On Wednesday we were honoured to welcome Alanna Patterson to school.  Alanna is the great grand-daughter of Nurse Margaret Anderson, who has become known as 'Mourne's Florence Nightingale'.  Nurse Anderson was awarded the Royal Red Cross by King George V for her contribution to the war effort.  To mark her visit, Alanna presented us with a beautiful painting of her great grandmother...

A number of pupils in KHS recently attended the Jewellery club after school, to produce a handmade silver necklace. All pupils cut out their own designs using a jewellers piercing saw. Some pupils added texture to their work by using planishing techniques, while others wanted a smooth finish, so filed and sanded their work to achieve this result.
