Year 11 visit to Newry SRC |

In preparation for the second year of their Occupational Studies courses in Southern Regional College, 30 Year 11 students recently toured the facilities available on the various campus sites.
All students were amazed at the state-of-the-art amenities especially in Catering, Sports and Hair/Beauty. Likewise, the Construction areas of Brickwork, Electrical, Tiling, Plumbing, Motor Vehicle Maintenance etc were a revelation to them!

Vocational Success for KHS |

A group of Year 12 students from KHS attended the annual Awards ceremony for the vocational Schools Partnership Programme in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry on Wed 9th May ‘12
There was a huge crowd at the awards, reflecting the considerable number of students taking part and the wide range of schools that avail of Southern Regional College’s Vocational provision. These Occupational Studies courses form an integral part of KHS’s commitment to a broad and balanced curriculum for all, under the auspices of the National Framework and success at Level 2 is the equivalent of “C” at GCSE level.

Pictured above are some of the Year 8 pupils who very successfully completed their Reading Partnership Programme. Pupils this year completed their ten week programme so successfully that for all of them the progression in their reading ages and confidence was tremendous. Thanks must go to all who participated this year and especially to their dedicated reading partners; Mrs J Forsythe, Mrs M McKee, Mrs T Long and Chloe McCullough Year 13, who devoted many hours to working with their pupils and making the experience a truly rewarding one.
